Renting a storage unit is a smart way to declutter your home or office, but organization is key. They way you choose to organize your unit can make all the difference in how much you can store and how easily you can access it.

Here are some top tips to help you maximize your storage space:

  1. Choose the Right Unit Size: Start by selecting a unit that fits your needs. If you're unsure, consult with Cliff's friendly staff to determine the best option based on your storage needs.

  2. Use Shelving: If you have one of Cliff's medium or large sized storage units, consider using sturdy, stackable shelving units. By going vertical, you can store more items without piling everything on top of each other, making retrieval easier.

  3. Label Everything: If you are using boxes, be sure to label each one on multiple sides. Using clear plastic bins can also be helpful, and be sure to label these as well. This will save you time when you're searching for specific items.

  4. Create Aisles: Again, if you have one of our medium or large storage units, consider creating aisles if you’ll need frequent access to your belongings. Leaving a small aisle down the center of your unit allows you to reach items at the back without unpacking the entire unit.

  5. Disassemble Large Items: Take apart furniture like tables and bed frames to save space. Store screws and bolts in labeled bags taped to the item.

  6. Pack Strategically: Place heavier, less frequently used items on the bottom and toward the back of the unit. Keep essentials and seasonal items near the front.

With these tips, you can make the most of your storage unit, keeping your belongings safe, organized, and accessible.
